Dolls & More by Glenice
I have always loved antique dolls but never had the means to afford to buy one. When I saw an advert in the local paper for Porcelain Doll Classes I was so excited and rang up straight away and enrolled. That was it as they say I was hooked and have not stopped making then ever since.
I really enjoyed the opportunity to be able to attend classes with different instructors and learnt so much but as usual I wanted more so enrolled in the DAG school of Dollmaking and attended very advanced seminar that I could get to. How exciting, the 1st overseas instructor that came over was Carla Snells and I went home after that seminar even more determined to achieve the highest level I could.
I have since attended 3 of Carla’s Seminars and have enjoyed playing with colours on my modern dolls.
Also I attended Sheryl Williams A for Annabel and again learnt even more and I guess I will never stop learning, there is always more.
I started my teaching studio in April 2005 and it has been growing steadily ever since. I love the whole process of Dollmaking from the pouring of the greenware to the finishing stages. I just love the joy my students get when they finish a doll and it is like bring life to a creation.
I was appointed a DAG Teacher in June 2006 and I can’t tell you what an honour that was to me I was just bursting with excitement.
I now hold Seminars in my studio as well as weekly classes and sell all the necessary items to complete your doll project, also I go to as many doll shows as I can and sell Greenware (I have been able to collect a lot of molds both modern and antique and I sell greenware all over Australia) and dolls accessories as well as finished dolls and at the same time promote classes and seminars.
I love creating new projects and sometimes it may be a piece of fabric or wig or something I have seen in a movie I have just watched that will give me inspiration to create my next project. I have even grown my hair to make a special wig for my dolls.
